my wife was run off the road by a semi (he was sighted for improper lane change) there insurance company is going to offer a settlement how much should we be looking for? Her vehicle flipped 3 times (they paid us $8000 for it KBB value) her hospital bill was $11000 (they said they would cover it) It included an ER visit overnight stay. We are fortunate she has no broken bones no nothing physically however she had amnesia and a concussion and still has some neck pain and is freaked out to drive especially at night? we talked to a lawyer but i didnt ask (didnt know if it was proper to ask how much we should be getting) so just seeing if anyone knows? thanks

I was issued 2 separate checks one in my name for 19,329 dollars that is issued to me. and another one for 30,671 dollars that is made out to me and the hospital i was treated at when I had my car accident. I was covered under a 50,000 dollar injury insurance policy and was paid out but was told by the insurance agent that I would have to negotiate with the billing dept. to see if they would take a lower payment. She said i should offer them 10000 dollars. That usually they will settle for half of the bill. I was also insured by my medical insurance and want to know if there is anything i should know before trying to negotiate with the billing dept. I was told my insurance company should have paid but because of auto insurance the hosptal goes after that first. I will be out of work for about 4 more months due to a back injury and think I should be entitled to more because of stress and pain i have been through. Can someone offer me some advice

I recieved a dog bite almost a year ago and hired an attorney quickly as the owner of the dogs was not willing to compensate me for my injuries. The owner also refused to give out their homeowner’s insurance information, so I had to get an attorney to force them to give it up. I have been recieving medical treatment for my injuries and have a nasty scar on my breast. My attorney wants me to meet with them and the Insurance company to show them my injury in person. I have never heard of this being done before and I don’t know if this a smart move on my attorney’s part. Plus, I am very self conscious of the way my breast looks and don’t like the idea of exposing myself to strangers. To my knowledge no settlement or agreement to do so has been put forth. Is this normal? What should I do?

Can a lawyer put in an amount to an insurance adjustor to try and make a settlement for a personal injury case without first discussing it with the client?
He never even told us the amount, he just put in the offer. We were expecting it to be much higher but it is a very unique case hopefully he knows best. I thought before he put in the amount he should of at least contacted me and let me know what was going on which he never did.

USAA insurance company only wants to give me $1000.00 & my daughter $700.00 for our injuries due to their insureds boyfriend who did a burn out in a puddle of water and rear ended me. We hurt our backs and necks but they are somewhat better for the most part. At least a few days a week we still have to deal with some pain, or stiffness, soreness. The adjuster isnt even paying me for my time off from work. What should I do????I know we could get more but I dont want to hire a lawyer, plus I only have until this June 19, 2006 to do something. Help!!! I want to be able to write some sort of letter sounding like I know what I’m talking about.
Personal Injury Settlement with Homeowners Insurance?

Hi! Almost 2 years ago, I shattered my ankle at my parents rental house. My insurance covered as much as they believed they should, and I am left with atleast $10,000 worth of hospital bills. The homeowners insurance wasn’t filed correctly & all my bills have been sent to bill collectors. I am now being garnished an average of $500.00 a month until the insurance gal corrects everything. I was on crutches for 4 months with an additional surgery to have the hardware removed (2 plates, 6 screws & 2 pins). I missed a total of 3 weeks of work. I have permantant (purple) scars on both sides of my ankle. I really truly want to hopital bills covered for sure, but am I in a place to ask for lost wages, pain & suffering due to the scars and troubles I currently have with my ankle? And if so how much do I ask for? Any advise would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you all for your great answers! To make things a little clearer… I do not live with my parents, they rent their home, the owner has the insurance… My parents had reported the stairs rotted and broken 1 year prior to the injury…the home owner replaced them 2 weeks after my fall.~ Thanks
