Once the settlement is agreed on. Is it law that the account has to be set up under a structured annunity account or can the parents set up a trust account at a bank for the child.
The reason for the question is a family friend who is an attorney is Oklahoma handled the settlement for me. However, the law in OK is different and he is not sure how it is handled in GA. He said I may have to now hire an attorney in GA.

I was wondering how long do you have before you have to settle.
I was in an accident about 8 months ago, they totalled my car and I have a small tear in my rotator cup. It only hurts when I work out, but I take a pain releiver, and that seems to do the trick.That is about it, I decided not to get surgery because the Doctor gave me a time frame between 2 days and 6 months that I would not be able to lift weights. I am still waiting to hear something from State Farm. I have an attorney, only because they tried to settle with me for 250.00, and I am pretty sure I should be able to get more, I am sure not much more, but it kind of made me mad that they would not go over 250.00.

I was recently in an accident, the totally at fault insurance company is completely lowballing me. Well, my attorney anyway.
I have heard of some formula, the amount of the medical bills times three is generally the amount paid for pain and suffering.
Is this true? OR some urban legend?
The accident in question, I was at a complete stop at a fixed crosswalk on a very busy street awaiting the pedestrian to cross when I was rear ended at approx. 40 mph.
Neddless to say, if the guy didn’t see me stopped, chances are the pedestrian could have been killed.
Question about Geico and injury settlement or car insurance & injury settlements in general?

i was involved in a car accident last week, the other person hit me and im now having back problems. they have geico insurance.
According to Geico, I am not entitled to receive any money for my injuries unless i was insured myself the day of the accident. in other words, if i did not have car insurance the day i was hit, then i dont get any money for my injuries, just the damage to my car.
i find this so shocking, anyone know if there’s any truth to this? if its true, how? why?
i mean if i lost my leg in an accident, they wouldnt cover a penny if it were their fault just because i myself didnt have insurance?
its just perplexing to me….anyway, id appreciate any help. thanks alot.
i NEVER said i dont have insurance, i do. im just wondering why this is a policy or law because it is ludicrous to me that this could potentially happen to people who cant afford car insurance but are struck and injured by someone who does. i mean come on, someone loses a leg and the other party doesnt pay a dime when it was their fault? that my point, im just trying to understand the system im dealing with here.
